IP network transmission serial port data solution


Background

With the rapid development of communication technology, TCP/IP protocol has become the current mainstream and the most extensive communication transmission protocol. IP network has matured and entered into all walks of life. Users can access the Internet at a small cost, and can access networking devices at any location through the Internet. The development of the Internet has greatly reduced the spatial characteristics of different regions and greatly facilitated the management of remote devices in different regions.

However, in some special industries, such as power industry and other industrial industries, serial communication protocol is still the mainstream communication protocol. The specification of serial communication protocol is not suitable for large range and long distance communication scenarios in design, so it is difficult to realize centralized remote management and maintenance for equipment using serial communication.

Compared with IP transmission network, serial network has the following disadvantages:

2)It is difficult to form a large-scale network, and it is difficult to integrate data from different regions
3)The maintenance cost is high, and the fault is difficult to be handled remotely
4)Low security, data is transmitted in clear text during transmission


Solution

In order to solve the problem of serial communication network accessing to the Internet and make serial communication equipment enjoy the convenience of IP network, our company has launched the solution of TCP/IP to serial protocol. CGG products are connected to the original serial communication network as the gateway of the user's original serial communication network. CGG products have two serial port specifications, RS232 and RS485, which can be connected to the original serial communication network according to the network conditions; Dial-up access to the IP Internet through wired or 4G mobile network. The adoption of IEC104 standard can well ensure the standardization of serial port data transmission and the reliability of communication in IP network, and realize the effective transmission of serial port service data in IP network. The serial gateway connects to the IEC104 server of the serial service management center through the IEC104 standard. After the connection with the server is established successfully, CGG can encapsulate the serial communication data received from the serial port into TCP packets and forward them to the serial service management center through the IP network; The TCP message received from the serial port service management center is unpacked and sent out from the serial port to complete the conversion between the serial port communication data and the IP network communication data, so as to realize the requirement of forwarding the serial port service data through the IP network. Enable IPSec VPN to create a virtual private channel between the serial gateway and the management center. The serial data transmission process should be encrypted by VPN to ensure the security of data transmission and avoid the interception or modification of production data in the transmission process.
